The above shlok from
Bhagwat Geeta states that, from anger, complete delusion
arises, and from delusion bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered,
intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one is ruined.
Anger emerges when the desires are not fulfilled. In anger, people commit mistakes that they later regret. With the surge of emotions, a person becomes incapable of defining the right and wrong. Unexpressed anger can create lot of problems. It creates havoc in human body leading to internal damage. There is no greater enemy than your own anger.
त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मनः।
कामः क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत्।।16.21।।
Desire to indulge in sensory temptations, intense anger, excessive desire to acquire or possess more than one needs or deserves are the doorways to hell.
Anger is described as an intense feeling in
response to frustration, hurt, disappointment, or threatening.

- Try to keep your body fit by eating nutritious food and doing proper exercise. Yoga also keeps your mind and body balanced.
- Find out the cause of your anger.
- Don’t be rebellious. Try to focus on achievable goals and work towards it with full dedication.
- Stay away from alcohol, drugs, smoking and any habit that can be hazardous.
- If the outrage is uncontrollable and its leading to violent behavior, then you should visit a psychotherapist, counselor or any other professional guide.
- To simply avoid after effects of your temper, you can walk away from the situation, take a walk, listen to something that can improve your feelings (devotional, motivational, counseling audios etc).
- Try smelling something that makes you feel good. Always keep your favorite fragrance with you.
- If you love animals, you can keep a pet. Having your beloved pets around makes the atmosphere pleasant for you.
- Chanting your favorite mantra can reduce anxiety.
- Writing down the feelings in a paper until your mind is stable will help you to a great extend in handling the irritation.
- Always live in the present, accept whatever comes to you with gratitude, learn to forgive, Let relationships be your priority not your ego, understand that it’s not necessary to be a winner always, talk to someone who can help you out, sleep well and always try to improve yourself by learning something new.
